The beautiful folk ritual «Juraŭski Karahod » has survived to this day and today it is celebrated on a grand scale only in one village in the Belarusian Polesie. Every year guests from all over the country and abroad come to witness the ancient tradition of its inhabitants.
In December 2019, the Spring rite of Juraŭski Karahod was included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. The decision to give it the status of a value of global importance, which needs special protection, was approved at the 14th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO in Bogota (Colombia). And the inhabitants of Pahost village without a doubt will continue to preserve the rite, passing it on to new generations and showing it to the world. Every year, with an icon, ceremonial «karahod bread» and a rake tied with a green apron, the residents of Pogost go to Panskoe Pole outside the village to «glorify Saint George's Day» and ask God for blessings «for a prosperous life and for a warm summer». The holiday continues in the Pahost club — a library with a performance of amateur amateur folklore groups from other districts of the Gomel region and the Republiс of Belarus
