About the museum

The Regional Museum of Local Lore in Brest is one of the youngest regional museums of local lore in Belarus. His birth year is considered to be 1950.

A special feature of this cultural object is that almost all the most visited museums in Brest are its branches. This is the museum "Saved Art Treasures", and the Berestye Archaeological Museum, and the Art Museum, and even the Kamenetsky Tower.

During its work, the museum has become a center for studying the Brest region, its history and culture. Every year, the museum's funds are replenished with more than 1.5 thousand items. Now you can see archaeological, numismatic, and ethnographic collections here. There are a large number of handwritten and old printed books, patterns of decorative and applied arts, paintings, graphics, etc. Thanks to the remarkable database of art objects, another branch has been created – the Art Museum.

The Museum of Local Lore also boasts its own section of nature. It contains a large amount of information about the natural resources of the Brest region, about environmental protection. The exhibits in this section attract the attention of both large and small visitors to the museum.
