It was established on February 20, 1974. On December 24, 1976 the museum was opened to the public. The exposition area of the museum is 190 m², the exhibition area is 255 m². The museum has three exposition halls and three showrooms.
The exposition of the Nature Department is located in two halls: information and dioramic. The information hall includes paleontological exhibits, photographs, maps of the nature environment of Gorodok region, the Red Book of Gorodok region, etc. There are also three dioramas: "Dubrava. Giant Oak", "Apocalypse", "White-tailed Eagle".
The dioramic hall of the Nature Department includes five dioramas: "Forest", "High Swamp", "Meadow. Water body", "Birds on the Lake", "Water Nut". About 100 species of insects are presented in separate display cases.
The permanent exposition "Hall of ethnography and folk crafts of the Gorodok region" consists of four sections: "Life of a peasant in the late 19th - early 20th centuries" (a fragment of a peasant izba, kamora), "Traditional women's and men's crafts", "Beliefs of our ancestors" (art paintings of temples of the Gorodok region, cult objects, ritual objects), "Life of the inhabitants of Gorodok and district" (diorama "Fair in Gorodok", a fragment of a shop).
Also in the museum there are 3 exhibition halls, so in the exhibition hall of the first floor there are shifting exhibitions, and in the halls of the second floor there is an exhibition about the events of the Great Patriotic War on the territory of Gorodok district "Roads of Victory" and an exhibition about the famous people of the district "Our Countrymen"
