Holy Protection Church, Asinagaradok, is considered an architectural landmark of the retrospective-Russian style. Built in the early 20th century, it acquired its present appearance thanks to a major renovation carried out in 1897 at the expense of Prince Drucki-Lubecki.
About the Church
The first mention of Holy Protection Church dates back to 1749, after which the building underwent several reconstructions.
The church is a splendid example of the retrospective-Russian style, with a rectangular main log structure, an adjacent porch, and a five-sided apse. Its complex multi-tiered roof with a tall hip tower in the center gives the building a special charm.
Nearby stands a unique bell tower, partially constructed of stone with a wooden top. This site also attracts tourists with its historical significance, especially the monument to the soldiers who died for faith and country in 1812, which is currently being restored next to the church.
This site is an important monument of wooden architecture with some elements of the Art Nouveau style.
