About the Church

The church in Dzerkawshchyna was constructed by Marshal Levon Domeyko, whose estate was located nearby. Built in the early 19th century under the guise of a barn, as building Catholic sanctuaries was prohibited at the time, the church was consecrated on May 22, 1822, marking the beginning of its history.

During the Great Patriotic War (the Eastern front of World War II), the church suffered damage from three mines, leading to its partial destruction. Despite this, services continued for some time, but in 1959, it was converted into a grain warehouse and left to their own devices.

By the late 1990s, local residents sought permission from Moscow to restore the church. Despite modest wages of 70 rubles, they allocated 100 for its restoration. On May 15, 1990, the sanctuary was ceremoniously reopened, marking a new chapter in its history.
