Why should you visit it?

Because the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War History is the first museum in the world dedicated to the Great Patriotic War and it is the only Belarusian museum that was founded during the war years. Moreover, it is a large complex containing 8,000 exhibit items, as well as 145,000 rarities.

Museum

These exhibition halls show are dedicated to 3 time periods:

  1. Pre-war period: the halls reveal the complex issues of peace and war. Therein, you can explore the reasons for the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War.
  2. War period: the halls reflect the major military events and turning points in the war, the Nazi occupation regime in Belarus, as well as the heroism of the Belarusian people.
  3. Post-war period: the halls tell the story of the BSSR revival and illustrate the participation of Belarusians in post-war local conflicts.

So the visitors can trace the entire chronology of the war events and have a better understanding of what was happening at that time and how destructive that war was. They realize that there is nothing more important than human life.

The peculiarity of the museum is that it is equipped with modern technologies that allow its visitors to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the war years. Thus, multimedia technologies are used in the exposition design: a spherical screen, holographic 3D installations, a fog screen that creates the effect of a flame, and info-kiosks where you can view unique military documents.

Museum

It is worth mentioning the building of the Museum, which also has a lot of symbolism. Firstly, the building itself consists of 4 blocks, and their number coincides with the number of years of the war and the number of the fronts that participated in the liberation of Belarus. The Road of War Exhibition Gallery and the Hall of Victory, which is located in the center, unite these blocks. The Hall of Victory commemorates the names of the Heroes of the Soviet Union and the military formations that fought for our freedom in 1941-1945. And the facade of the building is made in the form of fireworks, which represents the Victory.

The Museum of the Great Patriotic War History offers its visitors not only excursions but also the Path to Victory Quest, as well as the excursion program with the elements of quest About the Great Patriotic War.
