Earlier there was a wooden Dominican church, built in the XVII century. However, it was destroyed, and in its place in 1780 a new Catholic church was began to build. It was completed by 1808.
The architecture of the building combines baroque and classicism, but it does not stand out among other buildings in Orsha. During the Soviet period it was a House of Culture, then the building was wanted to be demolished or transformed into a concert hall, but in the end it was given to the religious people in 1990. After restoration the church was re-consecrated.
Saint Joseph Church is a three-nave basilica. Earlier its facade was decorated with two towers, but they were dismantled in 1870. The facade is divided into three parts by deep rectangular niches and ends with a rectangular two-tiered attic. Above the attic there used to be a triangular pediment, which has also not been preserved to the present day.
Despite the fact that Orsha Saint Joseph Church has not been preserved in its original form, it is still an impressive place steeped in history and spirituality.
