It is the largest (over 215 thousand hectares) reserve in Belarus.
The reserve was established on July 18, 1988 in the Belarusian part of the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on the territory of three districts of the Gomel region, which were most affected by the accident – Bragin, Narovlya and Khoiniki district.
This is the place where:
there are 96 uninhabitable villages and hamlets;
nature recovery conditions are created;
research is carried out.
Only here:
have been created all conditions to study the development of virgin wild nature;
the reserve workers engage in oriental horse breeding;
timber of the highest quality is successfully harvesting and selling;
a unique place for an excursion to the exclusion zone.
