History

The Catholic parish in the village of Lyntupy has existed for a long time, with the original construction of a wooden church in 1459. Various charitable endowments and building works have been carried out here at various times in its history, including the erection of a brick chapel in 1640. At the beginning of the 20th century, after a fire, the wooden church was replaced by a new building constructed in Russian Baroque style; the construction was completed in 1914. During the Soviet period, the church faced repeated attempts to close down, but the religious people managed to preserve it.
