About the Church

The church was built in 1905 in a style reflecting the traditions of the 17th-century Moscow architectural school. It replaced a Uniate wooden church, which was dismantled in 1881. Part of the funds for the construction of the church was allocated by the Russian Emperor Nicholas II directly from the state budget.

From an architectural point of view, the Church of Nicholas has a two-story structure, close to a square shape, with an adjoining two-story bell tower-porch with a hipped roof and a dome at the top. The main building is topped with an, onion dome on an octagonal drum and is constructed of brick. The wall decoration includes blind arcades, projecting cornices, corner columns, and window openings. The entrance arch is designed as a two-faced portal with columns.
