About the Church

The church impresses with its architecture in the pseudo-Russian style, featuring an octagonal tholobate topped with a dome and a massive arched porch on figured columns.

Its height, including the cross, is almost 25 meters. The church has been transferred to the diocese and is under state protection, but it is evident that funds for its full restoration are currently insufficient.

History

The construction of the church was funded by the brother-in-law of the great composer, Alexander Alexandrovich Rimsky-Korsakov, a member of the State Council. Using his own funds, he also built a church (destroyed in the 1960s) in the village of Dubrowka and a school, and was an honorary guardian of the Dubrowka People's School.

During the Soviet period, the Church of the Icon Iviron Theotokos was abandoned, but in the 1990s its restoration began. Today, the church continues to attract attention with its unique appearance, despite insufficient funding for complete restoration, and occasional services are held here.
