About the Church

The Church of the Transfiguration of Jesus was funded by Pan Wołodkowicz. The church consists of a central volume, side lean-to, an apse, and a porch with choirs galleries. The central volume is crowned with a spherical dome on a massive drum. Above the tambour there is a cubic volume of the bell tower, pierced on all sides by tall semicircular openings. The main western facade is adorned with a portico of four Doric orders, while the ends of the side lean-to are completed with pediments. The walls are sectioned with pilasters and cut through by rectangular window openings with semicircular dripstones. A cornice and a flat frieze run along the perimeter of the walls. The building is built of brick and plastered.

The interior of the church is decorated with paintings: images of the Sabaoth on the throne and the 12 apostles on the ceilings, the scene of the Epiphany near the altar, and the Gospel cycle on the walls. Inside the church, valuable icons from the 18th and 19th centuries are preserved, including the "Hodegetria" and the "Baptism". A particularly attractive feature is the bell tower, which houses five antique bells with the engraved signatures of the craftsmen.
