The theatre was founded on 21 November 1926 on the basis of the drama studio at the Moscow Art Theatre named after Maxim Gorky. Such artists as S. Stanyuta, R. Koshelnikova, P. Molchanov, T. Sergeichik and others graduated this drama studio during its existence period.
The theatre established the tradition of cooperating with Belarusian cultural figures back in the 1920s and 1930s. Thus, K. Cherny, Ya. Kupala, Ya. Kolas and others collaborated with the theatre. One of the interesting facts is that the theatre’s repertoire has included the play Nesterka since 1941, which speaks of its popularity even among modern audiences. Therefore, if you have never seen this performance, then it's high time to find out what is its peculiarity.
