About the museum

The State Cultural Institution "Zhlobin Museum of History and Local Lore" was founded in September 1987 in Zhlobin as a result of reorganization of the public Museum of National Glory. It was opened for visitors on 15.02.1992. The main object of the museum's exposition is the history of the city and the district. The museum plays the role of a scientific, cultural, educational and methodical center of the museum business in Zhlobin district; it helps to get acquainted with the national and universal heritage, serves the upbringing and self-education of citizens.

The museum has 16 exposition halls: archeology, ethnography, development of the railroad, revolution, the Great Patriotic War, religion in Zhlobin region, children's hall, etc. The museum has 16 exposition halls. In Zhlobin museum, besides the exposition there is an art gallery, an exhibition hall, a music salon, a lecture hall. The "Archaeology of Zhlobin region" hall presents paleontology, archaeological finds of Zhlobin district. You can see a model of the Zhlobin castle, reconstruction of a Bronze Age burial site.

The museum exposition is continued by the "Nature" hall, where visitors will get acquainted with the flora and fauna of the Zhlobin region. The hall dedicated to ethnography presents a log cabin of a peasant hut of the 19th century. To learn the history of the Belarusian national costume you can visit the hall "National Symbolism and National Costume". Visitors will learn about the history of Zhlobin, the creation of the railroad and the revolution in Halls 5-7. In the photo studio you can see the history of the twentieth century by touching the objects of that period. In the halls dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, documents, photos, items, medals of that period are presented. In the "Postwar period" the main enterprises of our city are presented.


You can get acquainted with the history of education, health care, sports, the most famous people of the district in the hall "The History of Zhlobin Region in Faces". The exposition is continued by the "Religions" hall, where X century Orthodox crosses and others are presented. In the "Children's" hall you can play, put together puzzles, watch educational cartoons. Classes and workshops are also held there.
