The Museum of Folk Architecture and Way of Life was founded in 1976 and since then has been one of the most popular ethnographic museums in Belarus. Its main goal is to preserve and show visitors traditional Belarusian culture, architecture and way of life. The museum is located on a picturesque area of more than 150 hectares, to recreate the atmosphere of village life in full.

The museum consists of several ethnographic zones, each one represents a specific region of Belarus. There are more than 40 authentic wooden buildings, including houses, churches, mills, barns and other farmery. All buildings were transported from different parts of the country and carefully restored to preserve their historical value.

It is not a traditional museum

The Museum of Folk Architecture and Way of Life not only displays exhibitions, but also actively holds various events: traditional holidays - Kupala, Maslenitsa, Christmas, master classes on weaving, pottery and wood carving.

Interactive excursions are provided for children and adults, which enable not only to see the exhibits, but also to try themselves in the role of village residents. Visitors can taste traditional Belarusian dishes prepared according to ancient recipes, and enjoy folk music and dancing.
