Memorial Complex “Brest Hero Fortress” has been operating since 1971. It includes both the preserved fragments of fortifications, which trace their history back to the first half of the 19th century, and museum exhibits, as well as monuments. The fortress has experienced many major events. However, the citadel gained worldwide fame for its heroic resistance to the Nazi invaders in June-July 1941.
The National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve includes 11 branches. All the expositions are located in the center of the oldest city of Belarus. The funds of the museum-reserve include more than 100 thousand items. Some of them are included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values. For example, the gold treasure of the 11th century, early printed and handwritten books, icons of the St. Sophia Cathedral.
The heart of the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Nesvizh" is the palace and park ensemble of the 16th-19th centuries, which served as the residence of the famous magnates Radziwill. The restored castle has reconstructed luxurious interiors, and numerous exhibits reveal the history of the legendary noble family.
The pearl of Grodno State Historical and Archaeological Museum is the restored Old Castle. A unique example of Renaissance architecture, it was built at the end of the 16th century, during the reign of Stefan Batory. The former royal chambers and service premises now house a rich exhibition dedicated to the history of the Castle Hill and all of Grodno.
