Event tourism, due to its versatility is a driver of growth at all levels – from regional to national. In order to reveal the full tourism potential of a particular region, the National Tourism Agency holds off-site workshops for representatives of the tourism industry. As a rule, they are held in conjunction with significant events in the region.
For example, on August 17, as part of the festival "Call of Polesie", a visiting workshop will be held, where current issues of event tourism development, modern approaches to organizing events and promising areas for the development of regional tourism will be discussed. By the way, all interested parties are invited to participate.
However, organisers of festivals and major tourism events should take long-term planning seriously. This will increase the flow of visitors and increase interest in local attractions. When creating an annual calendar of events, it is necessary to have an idea of the upcoming season as early as December. Of course, there are certain difficulties, but you need to strive to achieve this clarity and precision.
Firstly, knowing that the dates will not change, you can publish a printed calendar of events in advance, which will be interesting for tourists. Secondly, for tour operators, both local and foreign, it is very important to know these fixed dates to create package offers. For example, when traveling without personal transport, it is difficult to get to a festival in the provinces and find accommodation. If the date is known in advance, it is possible to create a full package of services and improve the level of service. This is especially important during peak periods, when hotels and other places to stay are overcrowded.
The institution drew attention to another important circumstance: the basis of regional festivals should be the local historical and cultural heritage. This feature will increase the uniqueness and value of the events held.
It is always possible to find a highlight that will be characteristic of a particular region and that will become the distinctive semantic core of the festival. Mass holding of events of similar themes and structure in regions does not enable to fully develop tourist demand and becomes a strong obstacle to their promotion on tourist portals and abroad.
