The program of the event provides a lot of interesting amusements and interactive playgrounds both for adults and children. The city is actively preparing to host guests, and we will be glad to tell you about the main attractions of Dobrush.

Dobrush

Let’s start with an interesting fact: scientists proved that it was precisely the territories where Dobrush is now located that were the first territories developed by the Cro-Magnon men as early as 35 thousand years B.C. This historical fact means that there are a lot of places here that are worth attention, as you will feel a long history of buildings just by touching their walls!

What is worth seeing?

  1. The main tourist attraction of Dobrush is the local history museum with a rich collection of exhibits. You will learn here the story of a beautiful small town near Gomel.

There is an exposition of the Belarusian artist Vladimir Prokoptsev, which we also recommend seeing, at the museum.

  2. Once Fyodor Paskevich decided to place a paper factory in Dobrush, which now has the name “Hero of Labor”. It is noteworthy that an interesting building with neo-Gothic elements has been operating as intended since the XIX century to this day.

In the XIX century, houses and a school for children were built for the workers of the factory. These facilities have also survived to this day and are located across the street from the paper factory itself.

  3. No wonder the city is called “Belarusian Venice”. Initially, the city was formed from aits on the Iput River.
    bridges

There are now many bridges in Dobrush, different in size. It is interesting, how many bridges will you count?

  4. St. Nicholas Cathedral is the only Orthodox building in the small Dobrush. Initially, the building was wooden, but in 1991-1992, a new two-story stone cathedral with five domes and a large bell tower was erected with the funds donated by parishioners. Worshippers walk into a church service here every day.
  5. In August 1941, defensive battles were fought in Dobrush against the Nazi invaders. The city was captured, and it was liberated only in the year 1943. The Memory memorial was erected in 2006 at the place of a collective grave bearing all 700 names of the heroes who fell in the battles for Dobrush. People will lay floral tributes and commemorate the memory of brave compatriots on the Belarusian Written Language Day.

What souvenirs to bring from Dobrush?

Of course, you can’t come home empty-handed from a city that is famous throughout the country for its porcelain. The only porcelain plant in Belarus will delight you with its high-quality products, which can be purchased in the shops of the city.

We wish you to get acquainted with the small Gomel city and enjoy the beauty and atmosphere just as we did. The Written Language Day will help you to discover a lot of new things about our literary wealth, and Dobrush will add flavor to this wonderful holiday!
