Not all sightseeing places are well known, and only historians and local historians have heard about the existence of some of them. It is curious that the architecture of the Soviet period seamlessly blended with the European style on the streets of the cities of the Grodno region.

We have created an amazing tour for lovers of history and authentic architecture.

Krevo

Today it is a small calm town in the Smorgon district, and once it was one of the key points on the map of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and a center of political life. In the XIV century, a powerful castle built by the Grand Duke of Lithuania Algirdas was here, which was fallen into ruin by now.

Krevo

The castle is also known for the fact that the famous Union of Krevo was concluded here in 1385. It marked the beginning of the process of unification of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Poland. The picturesque ruins of the ancient castle are one of the most spectacular sights of Belarus. Krevo Castle is currently undergoing restorative renovations.

In 1837 a wooden church appeared in Krevo. And there is the St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Church built in 1854 opposite it.

Boruny

On the way to Holshany, we highly recommend stopping by for a visit to the village of Boruny, where the impressive Saints Peter and Paul Church built in 1757 is located.

Boruny

The Basilian monastery of the end of the XVIII century is adjacent to it. The church itself is very elegant: with a high curved pediment, typical baroque candelabra, and a sophisticated tower on the side.

Holshany

Holshany was a private settlement of the Holshany dukes. Sophia of Holshany, the wife of King Vladislav Jogailo, was descended from their family and became the ancestor of the Jagiellon dynasty. The Sapieha family owned the town since the XVI century.

Holshany

In 1618, Pavel Stefan Sapieha began the construction of the Franciscan monastery complex. The monastery buildings are still used today as a functioning church. And the erected palace and castle ensemble of the Sapieha family has survived in picturesque ruins. Holshany Castle is currently being restored.

The characteristic small-town buildings of the XIX-XX centuries have survived in Holshany, which gives the current agro-town a peculiar charm.

The layout of the city - two perpendicular intersecting streets - has not changed for many centuries. All this makes Holshany very authentic – such a typical Western Belarusian town.

Grodno

You can’t but stop by for a visit to the Grodno regional center - the hallmark of Belarus, while traveling around the Grodno region. Grodno is considered the most European of the Belarusian cities. And yes, Grodno is so full of sightseeing attractions that few people manage to see all of them in one day. Try it and see for yourself!

Grodno

The majestic old (end of the XVI century) castle and the new (1734-51) castle, which is increasingly coming to resemble a palace, are connected by an arched bridge of the XVII century. The authentic stone walls of the old castle strike with their power. Don’t miss the opportunity to go to the local history museum.

The Kalozhskaya Church of the XII century, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, the Grodno Synagogue, the Bernardine Monastery, the Protestant Church of St. John, the Pokrovsky Cathedral, and the Brigitte Monastery are the places good for the soul.

Old water towers, Zhiliber Park, a zoo, a drama theater, a pharmacy museum, the house and museum of Eliza Ozheshko, a university building with an ivy-covered wall, and, of course, Sovetskaya Street - this and much more awaits you in the beautiful city of Grodno!

In the Grodno region, everyone can find something unusual and exciting, whether they prefer outdoor activities, educational tours or want to be in close communion with nature.
