It is located in the southwest of the country. One third of its territory is covered with forests. Every year Brest region attracts both guests from neighboring countries and residents of Belarus since a great number of natural, historical and cultural and recreational sites are situated on its territory.

The administrative center is the city of Brest. Within the city boundaries there is Brest fortress, the most popular historical sight. Besides, in Brest you should visit Gogol street, Brest Millennium Monument and Brest Railway Station. Sovetskaya street is worth seeing as well, where you can meet a well-known lamplighter, who lights unusual gas lamps up.
279 rivers (the Zapadny Bug, the Pripyat, the Goryn, the Shchara, the Yaselda and others) and 663 lakes (the Vygonoshchanskoye, the Bobrovichskoye, the Sporovskoye, the Chernoye, the Beloye and others) are located on the territory of Brest region. Also on the territory of the region there are 50 reserves of republican and local significance and 96 natural monuments. The Belovezhskaya Pushcha – the national park – is a unique primeval forest, which is well-known all over the world. The main treasure of the famous pushcha is the second largest population of European bison on the Earth. There are other natural landmarks on the territory of Brest region: the Olmanskiye Moors, the Reserve «Mid Pripyat», the National Park «Pripyatsky», the Biological Reserve «Zvanets», the Biological Reserve «Sporovsky», the Reserve «Pribuzhskoye Polesye».
The most historically significant sights of Brest region are the Palace of the Rdultovsky family in the village of Snov, the country estate of the Reitan family in Grushevka, Ruzhany Castle, the Palace of the Puslovsky family in Kossovo, Pruzhany Palace (the country estate of Shvydkovsky family), the Struve Geodetic Arc, St. Nikolai’s Cathedral, St. Simeon’s Cathedral.
There are 21 museums and 3 exhibition halls in the region: the Brest Railway Museum, Tadeush Kostyushko’s farmstead – museum near Kossovo, the Museum named after A.V. Suvorov in Kobrin, Brest Regional Museum of Local Lore, the Museum of the Defense of Brest Fortress-Hero, Brest Art Museum, the archeological museum «Berestye» and others.
On the territory of Brest region there are a lot of health care centers: «Alesya», «Bug», «Ruzhansky», «Belaya Vezha», «Yaselda», «Chaborok», «Nadzeya», «Solnechny», «Brestagrozdravnitsa» and others.
In the tourist complex «The country estate Rynkovka» you can try various dishes of Russian, Belarusian and European cuisine.
Such Brest Region sites as the National Park «Belovezhskaya Pushcha», the Struve Arc (Osovnitsa, Shchekotsk, Lyaskovichi, Ivatsevichi, Belin, Bezdezh) and a part of trans border biosphere reserve «Zapadnoye Polesye», which is UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves, are in UNESCO World Heritage List.
